Heavy Equipment Operator Jobs in Kelowna & the Okanagan
RockHard Excavating is a civil construction and excavation contractor based in Kelowna, working residential, commercial, and subdivision-scale projects across the Okanagan. We're hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to run excavators, skid steers, loaders, and packers on real civil infrastructure: roads, foundations, and utility mainlines.
Real Civil-Scale Work
- 10+years building in the Okanagan
- Civil-Scale Workincluding Cara Glen & Glen Park subdivisions
- $35–$45per hour, stated up front
- SICASouthern Interior Construction Association member
Our crews ran the excavation, trenching, and equipment work on the Cara Glen and Glen Park subdivision projects, sanitary, storm tank, and water main installs at a scale most excavation outfits never get called for. That's the kind of site this role puts you on, often working around live utilities where there's no room for guesswork.
What the Day Actually Looks Like
In the Machine
- Running excavators, skid steers, loaders and packers
- Building roads and civil grading
- Digging and backfilling foundations
- Digging and backfilling utility mainlines and service installs
- Working around live utilities
Out of the Machine
- Getting out to assist ground crews when required, not waiting it out in the cab
- Basic equipment care and maintenance between jobs
- Working alongside the rest of the crew on site
What You Need
Required
2+ years running excavators, skid steers, loaders and packers 2+ years in civil excavation: roads, foundations, utility mainlines, and service installation 2+ years digging around live utilities Willing to get out and help ground crews as required Solid equipment care and maintenance habits Valid driver's license and your own vehicleAn Asset, Not Required
Knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements for safe excavations Knowledge of general geotechnical requirements Ability to read and interpret civil and foundation drawingsPay & Schedule
- $35.00 – $45.00 per hour, negotiable based on experience level
- Full-time, permanent position
- Lots of opportunity for overtime
